It’s been ONE full year of the Made From Scratch Instagram! It’s been a wonderful and interesting year of cooking and photographing. I love being able to share the food I cook with friends, family, and so many others on Instagram - I wish I could cook for all of you.
Funfetti!
I’ve come across some unique challenges that I didn’t expect this past year. While not a necessity, taking good food pictures is a whole lot easier in natural light. Working full time typically leaves just Saturday and Sunday for big cooking projects and taking pictures. Now, a weekend feels incomplete if I don’t take on an in-depth cooking project, but I still struggle to produce enough content to post on Instagram.
Blood Orange Yogurt Cake
This leads to another big challenge: cooking in a sustainable way. I love cooking new things and I think to take a good picture you need a certain quantity, but I often end up with too much food. I try to bring food into work or give to friends, but some food is just hard to transport (i.e. beef cheek ravioli). Working to produce good content while not being wasteful will continue to be an ongoing challenge.
Lemon Rosemary Olive Oil Cake
By far, the best part of this year has been connecting with other people who love cooking and food via Instagram - I’ve learned so much from talking to more experienced bloggers. The inspiration I get from other accounts has pushed me to cook more and to try new things I may not have otherwise cooked (donuts!).
Big Chocolate Cake
Thank YOU so much for following along on Instagram and reading my blog. Every “like,” share, and comment thrills me (seriously) and pushes me to create new and better content. I hope you continue to follow along and get inspired to cook food… made from scratch.
